Pavement told fans its one-off October 2024 performance in New York would be its “last show for a long time,” but Stephen Malkmus and company did play two festivals, a warmup club gig and CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in 2025 while helping promote the off-kilter film Pavements, and they’ve since begun announcing more shows for this year.
The latest is a July 24 appearance at Philadelphia’s annual Make the World Better benefit concert series, which will also feature Chicago indie band Ratboys at Dell Music Center. The next night, local favorites Kurt Vile and the Violators will team with They are Gutting a Body of Water and Twisted Teens. Tickets go on sale Friday (April 3), and proceeds will benefit the revitalization of public spaces in the Philadelphia area.
More from Spin:
Pavement’s other 2026 roadwork will include a previously announced July 17 set at the Moswood Meltdown festival’s pre-party, the next night in Portland, Or., July 19 in Seattle, July 21 in Saint Paul, Mn., July 22 in Chicago, July 23 in Cleveland, July 25 in Richmond, Va., July 27 in Nashville and Sept. 19 at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees festival.
Malkmus is fresh off a rare solo concert in late February as part of San Francisco’s Noise Pop festival, during which 10 of the 18 songs performed were Pavement covers.
