SPIN and Punch Bowl Social Celebrate Chicago’s House Music Legacy With Special One Night Event

Punch Bowl Social and SPIN will join forces later this month to kick off Chicago’s biggest weekend of live music with an event that honors the city’s pioneering house music legacy. 

Featuring legendary headliner Chez Damier, the one-night celebration of the genre is slated for July 30 at Punch Bowl Social, who is celebrating its birthday, in the West Loop. Damier helped define the global house music movement and is best known for indispensable dancefloor tracks like “Can U Feel It?” and “I Never Knew Love.”

Ahead of Damier, ‘90s house innovator Jovonn will also be on hand to rock the decks. The famed NYC DJ is responsible for house classics like “Pianos of Gold” and “Back in the Dark.” If that isn’t enough, rising Chicago DJ jayah hasson will kick off the night, getting the party started with an exciting opening set of feel good house.

For the evening, SPIN, Punch Bowl Social and Guest List will transform the revered venue to punctuate the connection between music, art and culture that has always defined Chicago. Alongside interactive experiences and community-driven programming, the event will spotlight artist Emma Erickson.

There will be special limited edition posters by Erickson, and onsite screen printing by Chicago’s own Spudnick Press in partnership with Montucky Cold Snacks. Guests will also be able to purchase flash tattoos from four tattoo artists, and experience activations from Wiener’s Circle Chicago, Liquid Death, Red Bull, RumHaven, Espolòn Tequila, and additional partners throughout the venue.

SPIN will also produce exclusive editorial coverage from the event. By capturing artist interviews, photography, and behind-the-scenes moments for future stories, social media, and video features, this content will allow fans beyond Chicago to experience this historic night.
