Remi Wolf Feels ‘Clean And Clear’ Ahead Of New LP

Remi Wolf is getting down and dirty — then cleaning herself up. The singer/songwriter has announced Mud, her third studio album, due Oct. 9 via Island Records. The 11-track set follows the release of the single “Twiggy” and arrives ahead of Thursday’s unveiling of the track “Bottle,” with Wolf describing the album as a “cleansing” experience that marks a new phase in her life.

“I literally felt like I was covered in shit,” Wolf says of the process. “And now, at the end of the album process, I feel so clean and clear.”

That transformation came after years of near-constant touring, writing and recording, when Wolf began reconsidering not just what she wanted to say, but how she wanted to make music. Early sessions in Nashville eventually gave way to a retreat in Big Bear, Ca., with longtime collaborator Jared Solomon and friends Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin and Gigi Grombacher. Between writing sessions, family dinners and passing microphones around the kitchen, the group organically became what Wolf calls a “family band.”

That communal approach became the blueprint for Mud. The crew reconvened at Electric Lady Studios in New York before making one final trip to Joshua Tree, recording live and largely in the same room to favor spontaneity over polish. Wolf frequently climbed behind the drum kit, while songs were allowed to develop naturally around melody, storytelling and performance.

The result, according to the album announcement, is a warmer, more spacious and earthy evolution of the adventurous pop world Wolf has built since a series of 2020 EPs, her 2021 debut, Juno, and its 2024 follow-up, Big Ideas. Wolf has has played Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo and toured with Paramore, Lorde and Olivia Rodrigo, among others.

Earlier this year, she also made her screen debut in Amazon Prime Video’s Off Campus, with multiple songs from her catalog featured in the series and Wolf making a cameo in its premiere.
