Pennywise frontman Jim Lindberg is the guest on the latest installment of the SPIN Presents Lipps Service podcast, speaking with host Scott Lipps for a deep dive into the history of one of Southern California’s most influential punk bands.

Lindberg also discusses growing up in Hermosa Beach, discovering punk rock, becoming born again and making the decision to walk into the garage where Pennywise was rehearsing — a moment that changed his life. The conversation winds down with a survey of the younger bands keeping punk alive today, the tragic loss of founding bassist Jason Thirsk and the anger that drives Pennywise’s music.
