Bad Bunny Scores Super Bowl Halftime Emmy Bonanza

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show didn’t just make a cultural statement — it made Emmy history. The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny swept all seven of its nominations at the Creative Arts Emmys last night (Sept. 6), making it the most Emmy-warded Super Bowl halftime performance of all time.

The haul included Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction, Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming, Outstanding Production Design, Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork and Outstanding Sound Mixing. The victory for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) also makes Bad Bunny’s show only the second Super Bowl halftime performance to win the top program prize, following the 2022 halftime show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent. It is the first Spanish-language program to take the category.

Bad Bunny was recognized both as the performer and a producer of the halftime show, which saluted the sights and sounds of Puerto Rico on the Super Bowl stage, along with guest appearances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. Executive produced by Roc Nation and JAŸ-Z, the 13-minute production had received a record nine Emmy nominations heading into the ceremony.

The wins add another major awards milestone to what has already been a banner year for the Puerto Rican superstar. Earlier this year, Debí Tirar Más Fotos (I Should Have Taken More Photos) became the first Spanish-language album to win the Grammy for Album of the Year, and his supporting tour has sold out stadiums all over the world (except, of course, North America).

Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter became an Emmy winner for the first time as an executive producer and performer on The Muppet Show, which took home Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded). Carpenter, who already has two Grammys, celebrated the win on Instagram, writing that she was “so incredibly proud of the whole Muppets crew” and that “a lot of love and happiness and hard work and diva fights” went into making the special. Like Bad Bunny, she’s now halfway to EGOT territory.

The Muppet Show proved to be one of the night’s bigger winners overall, taking four Emmys: Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special. The special defeated Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show in the pre-recorded variety special category, leaving Swift without a win from her five Night One nominations.

Elsewhere, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert won Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming for its series finale segment featuring Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello. The 2026 Creative Arts Emmys will be presented in an edited broadcast on FXX on Sept. 12.
