Billy Corgan is the guest on the latest installment of the SPIN Presents Lipps Service podcast, speaking with host Scott Lipps about his own podcast, The Magnificent Others, and the Smashing Pumpkins’ busy year ahead, which includes a Lollapalooza appearance in August and a fall tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

Corgan also discusses the influence of KISS, Rush, Cheap Trick and Mötley Crüe, growing up in Chicago, the competitive nature of ’90s era alternative bands, hearing Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” on the radio for the first time and working with Courtney Love on Hole’s Celebrity Skin. The conversation winds down with Corgan’s list of his top five favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs.
