Finneas Takes The Reins For ‘BEEF’ Soundtrack

Finneas O’Connell is heading deeper into Hollywood scoring territory by taking on full composing duties for season 2 of Netflix’s BEEF, and it’s world he’s been living in for the better part of a year.

A24 will release the soundtrack April 16 via its recently launched A24 Music, with first single “Vicious Thoughts” out now. The score marks one of Finneas’ most expansive screen projects to date, following earlier work that includes composing for films like The Fallout and contributing music across various film and TV projects alongside his recordings with sister Billie Eilish.

“Spent the last 12 months in BEEF land. All eight episodes out April 16, all original music by me,” Finneas says. “Very grateful to [creator] Sonny [Lee] for involving me, very grateful for the incredible performances from the entire cast. I probably watched every scene 100 times while I scored the show and I felt it every time. True fan of this show, very honored and proud to be a part of it.”

Starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, the debut season of BEEF became a critical juggernaut, sweeping major awards and cementing itself as one of the defining series of 2023. Season 2 resets the premise with a new cast led by Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, centering on a toxic unraveling between a wealthy couple and the younger employees caught in their orbit.

“Finneas is the brilliant mind behind most of the music that has soundtracked my personal life over the last decade, so it’s an absolute honor to collaborate with him on the new season,” said Lee, whose real name is Lee Sung Jin. “He has an incredible ability to make the darkest emotions sound so achingly beautiful, and I cannot wait for everyone to hear what he’s cooked up.”
