Less than 24 hours after a fan died during Goose’s concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden, the band honored him with a moment of silence and a night dedicated to healing.
At Sunday’s (June 21) SummerStage performance in Central Park, Goose paid tribute to Paul Kueker, the Connecticut man who fell to his death during the group’s show the night before at MSG. Before taking the stage, the band observed a 15-second moment of silence and dedicated the concert to Kueker.
More from Spin:
“We considered whether or not we were going to play,” the band said in a statement shared before the performance. “We came to the decision that the best thing we can do right now is bring our community together, lean on one another, and offer a space for healing.”
The group also announced that proceeds from the Central Park show would go toward a charitable fund supporting fans affected by the tragedy and said they would provide access to grief counselors and online support sessions for members of the Goose community.
Kueker died after falling during the second night of Goose’s sold-out Madison Square Garden stand. The band said it learned of the incident only after leaving the stage and described itself as “reeling” from the news.
