Hamilton Leithauser, Rostam Reunite For First Tour

Ten years after Hamilton Leithauser and Rostam joined forces for the Glassnote album I Had a Dream That You Were Mine, the Walkmen frontman and Vampire Weekend co-founder are hitting the road together for the first time on a full North American tour.

The 11-date run kicks off Nov. 5 at Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club in the artists’ shared hometown and wraps Nov. 19 at Pacific Electric in Los Angeles. The tour arrives just days ahead of the Oct. 2016 album’s 10th anniversary and follows a handful of performances the pair gave in Los Angeles and New York around its original release. Tickets go on sale Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. local time.

To mark the reunion, Leithauser and Rostam have also shared a new piano rendition of the I Had a Dream track “In a Black Out.” The pair reunited this summer at Power Station, formerly Avatar Studios, to film a performance of the stripped-down version, directed and edited by Andy Swartz.

When I Had a Dream That You Were Mine arrived in 2016, the collaboration brought together two musicians whose day jobs already placed them at the center of indie rock: Leithauser was the distinctive, often howling voice of the Walkmen, while Rostam was a songwriter and producer in Vampire Weekend. Their friendship and mutual admiration produced something that neither had made before, with Rostam’s meticulous production framing Leithauser’s enormous vocal range across doo-wop, country rock, baroque pop, folk and torch song territory.

A decade later, that one-off creative partnership is getting a considerably longer lease on life. The tour will hit Philadelphia, Woodstock and Brooklyn, N.Y., Somerville, Ma., Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles, with two consecutive nights at Brooklyn’s soon-to-close Music Hall of Williamsburg on Nov. 9-10. Sam and Louise Sullivan and Johanna Samuels will provide support on select dates, with additional support TBA.

For Rostam, the tour comes during a particularly active year following the release of his third solo album, American Stories, via Matsor Projects. Leithauser continues to balance his solo career with his long-running presence in the New York rock world. His 2026 Café Carlyle residency spans 16 nights, his longest run at the venue, while his most recent album, This Side of the Island, was co-produced with the National’s Aaron Dessner and Anna Stumpf.
