Haywire Keeps The Momentum Rolling On New LP

Boston hardcore upstart Haywire is already making good on its promise to bring its music to as many people as possible. The Boston hardcore band has announced its second full-length, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye, due Oct. 2 via Roadrunner Records, while dropping the album’s first single, “Interstate Love Affair,” alongside a new video directed by Luis Hernandez.

The announcement comes as Haywire continues the rapid ascent SPIN previously chronicled around its unlikely connection with fellow Boston institution Dropkick Murphys. Since forming in late 2023, Haywire has approached the hardcore ecosystem with a distinctly community-minded spirit, backing up a steady stream of releases with an even steadier touring schedule.

I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye follows 2024’s CONDITIONED FOR DEMOLITION and arrives after a prolific stretch that also produced the FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE EP, the “Shirts Vs. Skins” split with No Guard and the “New England Forever” split with Dropkick Murphys earlier this year.

Produced by Citizen’s Mat Kerekes and mixed by Taylor Young of the Pit Studio, the new album was recorded over three months at studios in Leeds, U.K., and Toledo, Oh. It features appearances from members of Nothing and the Aggrolites, along with Aaron, Bruce and other Haywire friends.

The new “Interstate Love Affair” video gives the album its first visual calling card, while Haywire’s live calendar suggests there will be plenty of opportunities to hear the rest of it the loud way. The band plays U.S. dates in September with Turnstile and Circle Jerks and will also hit a formidable festival circuit this fall, with appearances lined up at Louder Than Life, Riot Fest, CBGB Fest, Aftershock, Furnace Fest and Sick New World, among others.
