Lana Del Rey has offered her clearest update yet on the long-awaited follow-up to Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd — and it turns out fans may be getting much more than a single new album.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Del Rey revealed that she has completed not one but two interconnected records after spending the last four years writing and recording through a period of profound personal and creative change. “So much has happened over the last four years,” she wrote. “So much time waiting for things to come together and so much time wondering if it was ok that things were falling apart.”

More from Spin:

As previously reported, Del Rey had begun teasing new material after an extended period of relative silence, though she stopped short of revealing exactly what form the project would take. Now, she’s confirmed that the music has expanded into a pair of albums. The first, Stove, is the record fans have already gotten a glimpse of through songs she’s performed live such as “Stars Fell on Alabama,” “Henry, come on” and “Quiet in the South.”

Stove is so lovely and intact as it was intended to be — a classic album if I may say, a lot of which we’ve toured and you’ve heard — but not all of it,” she wrote.

Alongside it, Del Rey has assembled what she describes as “a beautiful, secondary album” named Spyda, calling it “a commentary of sorts on everything that has been going on” over the past several years. While Stove grew out of what she expected to be “growth and joy,” the companion project emerged from “doubt, hopefulness and the understanding that new beginnings truly mean starting completely fresh and over.”

“I guess it took what it took to finish it,” she wrote, thanking her collaborators for helping bring both projects to completion. According to Del Rey, the music is nearly ready for release. “I need a month to finish putting it together, and then send my two albums to vinyl,” she explained, adding, “It certainly is two of my most beautiful pieces of work.”

Reflecting on the lengthy creative process, Del Rey described the dual albums as documents of transformation and resilience. “When life decides to send you down another river, it’s really not your choice and it’s truly an adventure of its own,” she wrote. “I wrote about it. Now it’s time to trust the process and go downstream.”
