103.5 The X Brownwood Rocks!

Lucy Dacus has unveiled the self-directed video for her latest single, “Planting Tomatoes,” following an intimate premiere screening last night (July 7) in New York.
Shot entirely in her hometown of Richmond, Va., the video doubles as a love letter to the city that shaped her, winding through landmarks including Dogwood Dell, Hollywood Cemetery and James River Park’s Pony Pasture, as well as the homes of friends. The visual reflects the song’s themes of staying grounded in the present while recognizing the fleeting nature of life and the people closest to us.
More from Spin:
The clip was created with Richmond production team SpangTV alongside creative director Jordan Rodericks and cinematographer David Muessig, who previously collaborated with Dacus on the video for “Hot & Heavy.” Editing comes courtesy of Laura Colwell of Sun June. The cast includes students from Richmond youth performing arts organization SPARC, Dacus’ father and a number of her friends.
Dacus, who is also a member of boygenius with Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, will return home for a special screening of the video at Richmond’s Byrd Theatre on July 30, followed by a Q&A moderated by SPARC senior faculty member Paul Major.
The release arrives as Dacus continues the biggest headlining tour of her career, with dates scheduled throughout the summer in addition to festival appearances at Outside Lands in San Francisco and Bumbershoot in Seattle.
The run also includes two orchestral performances — one with the Chicago Philharmonic at Millennium Park featuring Ratboys, and another with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, where Cat Power will perform The Greatest. Both concerts will feature new orchestral arrangements spanning Dacus’ latest album, Forever Is a Feeling, and songs from across her catalog.
For every headlining show, Dacus is continuing her partnership with the Ally Coalition, with $1 from each ticket sold benefiting organizations that support queer and trans youth across North America.
