Mumford & Sons Audition Hollywood Stars In New Video

Mumford & Sons audition Hollywood stars Oscar Isaac, Shailene Woodley and Paul Dano for the role of frontman Marcus Mumford in the new video for the song “Here,” which was directed by Bradley J. Calder. In the clip, their rehearsals are judged with cool precision by Mumford bandmates Ted Dwane and Ben Lovett (replete with turtleneck sweater and glasses).

Featuring a guest vocal turn from Chris Stapleton, “Here” is drawn from Mumford’s chart-topping, Aaron Dessner-produced album Prizefighter. The group has been performing it as a duet with opening act Sierra Ferrell during its recent North American tour.

And while Mumford will be on the road internationally through late November and plays a massive show Saturday (July 4) in London’s Hyde Park with the War on Drugs, Lovett tells SPIN there are already fresh ideas percolating.

“We’re always thinking about new music,” he says. “We’ve been playing around with some stuff in soundchecks and we feel incredibly grounded and centered as a band right now. It feels more purposeful maybe than ever in terms of, why did we do this? From that place of trust that we have between the three of us, I think there’s a lot of creativity to come. We did a bunch of work with Pharrell two years ago and he’d always talk about not letting the song leave the room — like, not giving up on a good thing.”

He continues, “right now, in the metaphorical room, there’s a lot of songs kicking around and we just want to harness that. We find touring incredibly inspiring and we’re talking about what the next few years hold positively, rather than, let’s just hunker down and get through these shows.”
