Nick Cave, Bryce Dessner Score Golden Globe Noms

The National’s Bryce Dessner, Nick Cave, Miley Cyrus, HUNTR/X, Wicked‘s Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo and Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood are among the musicians who received nominations today (Dec. 8) for the Golden Globe Awards, which will take place Jan. 5 live on CBS.

Dessner and Cave are nominated for Best Original Song for the title track from Train Dreams and will vie against Cyrus’ Avatar: Dream As One ditty “Dream As One” (writers: Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt), Miles Caton’s “I Lied to You” from Sinners (co-written by Raphael Saadiq and Ludwig Göransson), the Stephen Schwartz-penned Wicked: For Good songs “No Place Like Home” (Erivo) and “The Girl in the Bubble” (Grande) and the inescapable KPop Demon Hunters hit “Golden” from HUNTR/X.

Greenwood is nominated for Best Original Score for One Battle After Another. Additional nominees in the category are Alexandre Desplat for Frankenstein, Hans Zimmer for F1, Max Richter for Hamnet, Kangding Ray for Sirat and Göransson for Sinners.

Grande also earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination, as did singer Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another. Jeremy Allen White is nominated for Best Actor – Drama for his turn as Bruce Springsteen in Deliver Me From Nowhere and Kate Hudson is up for Best Actress – Musical/Comedy for portraying one half of a married Neil Diamond cover band in Song Sung Blue.

As part of Only Murders in the Building‘s four nominations, Selena Gomez landed a mention for Best TV Comedy Actress.
