Noah Kahan, Aaron Dessner Re-Team For ‘Hunger Games’

Noah Kahan is taking his collaboration with co-writer and co-producer Aaron Dessner from The Great Divide into the world of Panem.

The singer/songwriter’s “Draw You Out” will serve as the lead single from The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album). Penned specifically for and inspired by the forthcoming film, it arrives Oct. 2, with the soundtrack due Nov. 13 via MCA, one week before The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping hits theaters.

Kahan re-teamed with the National’s Dessner following the No. 1 debut for The Great Divide, which posted the biggest streaming debut of 2026 upon its May release.

For Kahan, the new song also represents a long-held ambition: writing music specifically for film. “This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I am so grateful for the opportunity to write for this moving film, having adored the works of art by Suzanne Collins,” he wrote on Instagram.

He said he was particularly inspired by the “tragic yet hopeful story of Haymitch and Lenore Dove,” and by themes of “purpose, grief and perseverance through pain” that the characters exemplify. “This is an incredible film, and I am so honored to be a small part of it,” he added.

Sunrise on the Reaping is set 24 years before the events of the original The Hunger Games and follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Annual Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. In the arena, Haymitch forms an alliance with fellow tribute Maysilee Donner, played by Mckenna Grace, while becoming involved in a larger effort to challenge the Capitol’s control. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film also stars Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album) is executive produced by Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb and brings together 29 as-yet-unannounced artists from across genres. Its songs are newly recorded and exclusive to the film and soundtrack.

Meanwhile, Kahan’s Aug. 31 Great Divide tour finale show at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park will air tonight (Sept. 24) to open the fifth season if Amazon Music Live following Thursday Night Football on the streamer.
