NBC’s annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks special will shine extra brightly for its milestone 50th anniversary.
The two-hour broadcast, airing live July 4 on NBC and Peacock, will feature performances from Post Malone, Noah Kahan, Blake Shelton, Shaboozey, Bebe Rexha and hip-hop pioneers Salt-N-Pepa as part of the celebration marking both the event’s golden anniversary and America’s 250th birthday.
More from Spin:
The special will once again transform the New York skyline with a massive fireworks display synchronized to music and enhanced by new visual elements. According to NBC, this year’s show will expand across the Brooklyn Bridge and lower East River and incorporate state-of-the-art effects, including a first-of-its-kind laser display projected from the bridge itself.
Grammy-winning composer Jason Howland composed the event’s the 27-minute score, which will accompany more than 85,000 shells and an array of pyrotechnic effects. The Voice season 29 winner Alexia Jayy will also deliver a vocal performance during the festivities.
The annual telecast is produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, with Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay serving as executive producers. Will Coss is executive producer for Macy’s. “We’re proud to honor our 50th anniversary with an expanded show, never-before-seen effects and music’s biggest stars for a truly unforgettable celebration,” he said.
