It all started when David Mainka, a young boy from Andrews, discovered his love for woodworking. His passion earned him awards and inspired his daughter to learn beside him in his shop. Years later, in 2007, he gave her a large lathe, sparking her own journey of craftsmanship. What began as handmade pens for family soon grew into a small business venture while she attended Howard Payne University. After college, life brought marriage, children, and work, but woodworking eventually called them back. Together, David and his daughter began creating larger pieces like coffee tables and rocking animals, but hauling them to weekend events became challenging. When David retired, a walk down Center Avenue inspired a new idea: open their own store to showcase their work. After exploring many spaces with their realtor, they found the perfect fit in the Texas Fun Co. building. With help from her husband, who added 3D printing and brought in local artists as part of a collective, the business became a true family effort. Today, they are proud to support local creators and their community while working side by side as a family, children included. Through challenges and blessings alike, they credit God’s guidance for leading them exactly where they are meant to be.
