Rod Stewart Scraps Tour Following Heart Procedure

Rod Stewart has canceled the remainder of his upcoming One Last Time tour dates after undergoing a successful coronary stent procedure, putting the brakes on the 81-year-old rock icon’s farewell run.

Stewart’s representatives confirmed that doctors are pleased with his recovery and that he has already returned to his normal daily activities. Still, he has been advised to take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage.

The cancellations come days after Stewart postponed his Aug. 9 performance at Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center because of what was initially described as an “unforeseen but minor medical procedure.” His Aug. 11 show at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena was subsequently canceled as well.

The affected dates include Stewart’s upcoming six-show residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, as well as additional North American and Mexican performances scheduled through early September.

“I’m already feeling better and very much on the mend,” Stewart said in a statement. “I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon.”

The latest setback follows a difficult stretch for the singer. Stewart canceled and postponed several performances earlier this year amid illness, including Las Vegas and San Diego dates, and during a June performance in Utah he nearly fainted and required oxygen backstage before attempting to continue the show.
