Weezer will round up the Shins and Silversun Pickups for a 32-city fall tour dubbed Weezer: The Gathering. The outing will visit North American arenas from Sept. 8 in Sacramento, Ca., through Oct. 24 in Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale to the general public on April 3.
To kick off the festivities a few months early, Weezer is hosting Weezer: The Gathering — Initiation Week for fans beginning tonight with a trivia night at Barney’s Beanery. A pickleball tournament against band members is also set for March 30. Visit the band’s web site for more details.
More from Spin:
On April 1, Rivers Cuomo and company will unveil the new song “Shine Again,” which will serve as the lead single from their as-yet-untitled debut for Reprise/Warner Records. The project is the follow-up to 2021’s Van Weezer, the band’s sixth and final release for Atlantic. It debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200.
Weezer also remains in the spotlight with the 2014 Best Coast duet “Go Away,” which went viral following the latter’s denunciation of Wasserman Music owner Casey Wasserman’s ties to convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. Per a statement, the song is averaging nearly a million daily streams worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Shins have not toured since 2022 and have only performed live once since then, at a 20th anniversary celebration for the film Garden State and its hit soundtrack. Silversun Pickups will be supporting their latest album, Tenterhooks, which was released in February.
